Disclosure – I teamed up with FAGE to bring you this post. As always, all opinions are my own. Be sure to look for FAGE Total (whole milk), FAGE Total 2% and FAGE 0% Split Cup fruit varities in a store near you.
Guys, I finally did it! I chose the dress and said “yes.” It feels so good to have that part of the wedding planning done. It was getting close to the wire. Who knew that you had to shop for a dress so early? We are five months out from our wedding. The dress is going to take four months to create, and that even required paying a rush fee to get it here in time! Fingers crossed that when it arrives, it’s going to be just how I pictured it.
Of course, when it arrives, I definitely want to be in my best shape. Who doesn’t want to be the best version of themselves on their wedding day?
Here’s the steps I’m taking to be sure that I’m staying on track:
Drinking More Water.
This has always been a hard one for me. Why is it so hard to drink eight glasses of water a day, but so easy to drink three glasses of wine with dinner? The things that I’ve found help me get in my 64-ounces a day are:
- Using the Water Minder app on my Apple Watch – Every hour or so, it will tap me and remind me to drink more water!
- Chugging a full glass of water first thing in the morning – I keep a glass next to my bed and force myself to drink it when I get up in the morning.
- Carrying a insulated water bottle with me – I find that it’s easy to drink water when I’m stuck in traffic or waiting in line at the grocery store.
There are certain workouts I hate – Spinning for instance. Remember in this post when I told you I signed up for a class? I never made it, I bailed. I’ve come to realize that the only way I’m going to work out is if it’s something I actually enjoy. Barre classes are my thing, I’ll take 2-3 classes a week and I squeeze them in on my lunch break. It gives me a mid-day energy boost and I actually look forward to moving in the middle of the day since I’m stuck behind a desk at work all day. I also hop on the treadmill 2-3 days a week and walk at a high incline. We’ve got the perfect set up at home – A TV right in front of the treadmill and access to all our DVR shows.
I aim to get 8 hours of sleep a night, and I do pretty well with this one. I’ll normally put down my phone by 9pm, relax in bed with an episode of Real Housewives, or some other horribly-good reality TV show, and fall asleep by 10pm.
Eating More Lean Protein.
By planning out my meals for the week on Sunday, it really helps me stay on track. I’ve been aiming to eat more lean protein and pack a bunch of fruit and veggies into my diet. I’ve also found that packing snacks is a great way to keep me full during the day and less prone to sneaking candy from the bowl in our office.
I’m a big fan of the FAGE Total 0% Split Cup fruit varieties like Blueberry Acai and Cherry Pomegranate. FAGE Total Split Cup is all-natural Greek strained yogurt with delicious fruit toppings and comes in three fat varieties, so you can find just what you’re looking for to fit your lifestyle: FAGE Total (whole milk), FAGE Total 2% and FAGE Total 0% Split Cup. The 0% split cup has only about 100 calories and 11g of sugar each, but packing in a whopping 13 grams of protein, these grab-and-go cups are perfect for when I’m rushing out the door. I like to top them with even more fresh fruit, like raspberries, blackberries and pineapple. Rich in protein, not in sugar, it’s the perfect way to satisfy my sweet tooth which normally kicks in around 3pm or so.
I also like to make a batch of hard boiled eggs in my Instant Pot and bring those in to work with me too. Sprinkled with a bit of salt and pepper, eggs are one of my favorite savory protein fixes. And of course, there’s also this Instant Pot Weight Loss Soup. I also like to make a big batch of it on the weekends and heat up some whenever I’m feeling hungry.
Here’s a sample of what I might eat in a typical day:
- Breakfast: Coffee, handful of almonds
- Snack: Hard boiled egg, Weight Loss Soup
- Lunch: Poke bowl or big salad, cup of Bone Broth
- Snack: FAGE 0% Split Cup, fresh berries & pineapple
- Dinner: Sheet Pan Salmon or Thai Steak Salad
Planning a wedding is seriously high stress. I’ve found it important to do little things to brighten up my day like buying flowers, a special candle or a new plant.
My dermatologist told me that now is the time to start getting my skin in shape for the wedding. She suggested a regimen using Retin-A at night and a brightening serum in the morning. I also use a face mask and exfoliating scrub once or twice a week. Combine all that with drinking more water (see above) and sipping some of my “better than botox” bone broth on the regular, I’ve definitely noticed a difference in the size of my pores and the softening of lines on my face.
