I’ve been a fan of Italian sodas since I was a young girl. I’d order one every time we went out to eat at a fancy Italian restaurant. Sometimes I’d order strawberry, but raspberry was always my favorite flavor. To me, it felt so much fancier than a Shirley Temple. Today, my obsession with fancy drinks continues.

But today, I’m revisiting this classic mocktail in honor of Mother’s Day. See, my mom isn’t a fan of alcohol. If it wasn’t our identical features – the red hair, the noses, the brown eyes – I’d have to question whether I was really her daughter. She scrunches up her nose when she tries wine. She doesn’t even like it in cooking… Maybe I was given the wine gene for both of us.

So this one’s for mom. A festive, fun cocktail, that’s free of alcohol.

You just need three simple ingredients to make these gorgeous sodas – Raspberry syrup, soda water, and whipped topping. Plus, they’re easily customizable. Raspberry not your thing? Swap in vanilla syrup for a delicious treat. Don’t have whipped cream? It’s also delicious with a splash of cream or a scoop of ice cream.

What flavor combination would your mom love?

Italian Sodas were a childhood favorite. I have the most fond memories of having them at the tea house and always requesting more whipped cream.

Extra whipped cream is always the best Meredith!

Wow this looks amazing. I would probably add some champagne. 😉

I used to get Shirley Temples every time I went out to eat for a special meal. But these are so pretty—no wonder you favor them! My preschooler would die to get one of these. Maybe we’ll surprise her on her birthday!

I used to hands-down LOVE cream sodas. These sound and look great. I totally love that your mom is a fan of these (but yes, weird you have such a wine love and she doesn’t!!). Happy mother’s day to her!!

I’m a huge fan of all fancy drinks… including italian sodas! I love making my own syrups and creating my own. I had been planning my mothers day for my mother in law and totally didn’t even think about the drinks! She isn’t a fan of alcohol either so this is a great idea! Thank you and impeccable timing!

Love the look of these! I’d probably sneak in a little shot of vanilla vodka in there too, just for good measure 😉
