soy sauce

sesame oil
Optional Add-Ins

chili oil

green onions
thinly sliced

teaspoon
toasted sesame seeds

teaspoon
crushed red pepper flakes
or to taste

clove
garlic
grated or minced
1/2
teaspoon
fresh ginger
grated or minced

teaspoon
sugar
Instructions
Whisk together all of the ingredients in a small bowl and enjoy.
Notes
Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Optional add-ins
Chili Oil, Sriracha or Red Pepper Flakes
– Add to taste, for some heat.
Green Onions
– Add about 1 Tablespoon for a little bite.
Garlic
– Grated or minced. 1 clove.
Fresh Ginger
– Grated or minced. About 1/2 teaspoon.
Sugar or Honey
– Add about 1/2 teaspoon for some sweetness.
Sesame seeds
– Add a nutty crunch.
Citrus Zest
– Lime, lemon or even orange.
Variations
Gluten free
– To make gluten free dumpling sauce, replace the soy sauce with tamari, coconut aminos, or gluten free soy sauce.
Make it sweeter
– By replacing the regular soy sauce and sugar with
kecap manis
.
Lower the sodium
– If you don’t have low sodium soy sauce, you can slightly dilute the strong salty flavors with 1 or 2 tablespoons of water.
Too tangy?
Add ½ teaspoon of sugar to tone it down.
