Biryani is a traditional Indian dish with layers of flavorful rice, marinated prawns, spiced gravy, and cooling raita. The intriguing flavor comes from an array of warming Indian spices. It’s the perfect lunch or dinner for a special occasion or any time!
Add additional oil to the pan and saute the cardamom pods, cloves and cumin seeds until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the ginger and garlic, and saute for another 30 seconds or so.
Then, add the tomatoes, cilantro, mint, cumin, cinnamon, garam masala, paprika, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir and simmer the mixture for 5 minutes.
Add the caramelized onions and marinated prawns to the skillet, and cook for 5-6 minutes, over medium heat, until the prawns are just cooked through.
