Things to Do in Sydney, Australia

Sydney, Australia is such an amazing place to visit for what may be a once in a lifetime trip, but definitely shouldn’t be. Here are my favorite spots to check out in Sydney.

Visit an Old School Authentic Pub

There are two pubs in town competing for title of Sydney’s oldest pub – Fortune of War and The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel. Pull up a barstool and enjoy the banter between the regulars and bartenders. I loved Fortune of War in particular.

Check out the Harbour Bridge

You have the option of doing the Harbor BridgeClimb where you actually scale the bridge. But for those a bit weary of heights, like me, there’s the option to take the stairs up to the Pylon lookout. You’ll get an amazing view of the Opera house and a full view of the city of Sydney from all angles.

Visit the Sydney Opera House

A must do in Sydney is a visit to the Opera House. Check out this iconic building from closeup and be sure to snag a photo while you’re there. There are several restaurants and bars in the Opera House. For a low key experience, grab an Aperol Spritz at the outdoor bar. For a more fine dining experience, check out the tasting menu at Bennelong. Or, just visit the bar at Bennelong. The night time views of the harbor can’t be beat.

Have a Flat White & Avo Toast

When in Australia, do as the Australians do and simply order a flat white, rather than a fancy, specialized latte. Simple really is best here. You’re sure to find avocado toast on most menus, and it’s definitely amazing. Check out Paramount Coffee Project for some of the best avo toast and flat whites around.

Hang Out at Bondi Beach

Take the beautiful Bondi to Bronte Beach walk to experience the shoreline and you may even spot some whales while you’re there. Check out the beautiful Icebergs Swim Club and grab a cocktail while you’re there. Or camp out at Bondi and grab a beer and some fish & chips at The Bucket List.

Check out a Museum

There are so many great museums to explore in Sydney:

Visit the Chinese Garden

Escape from the busy city and find solitude in the Chinese Garden of Friendship.

Treat Yourself to a Special Dinner

There are so many great dining options in Sydney. Sample amazing asian food at Spice Temple. Try some authentic greek food at The Apollo. Indulge in Indian at Malabar. Try a tasting menu at Bennelong (at the Opera House).
