Cheese boards are one of my favorite things to throw together. Whether it be for a quick and delicious dinner, or for a small gathering with friends.

With just a handful of ingredients from your local market, and about 15-minutes, you can have this amazing spread ready to go!

I chose to stick with a color theme of oranges, greens and browns for this winter spread. But feel free to get creative and have fun with it!

Choose your board

You can make your board as small or as big as you’d like. Wood tones are pretty with this winter spread. But you can also serve this on a piece of slate, or a marble serving tray.

Choose your cheeses

My method of attack is to choose two or three cheeses of varying types. For this winter cheese board, I went with a few of my favorites:

  1. Gruyere
  2. Parmesan
  3. Aged Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Other cheese options include manchego, blue cheese, cambazola, havarti, feta, and goat cheese.

I like to cut the cheese in varying shapes like cubes, wedges and sticks, just to add some interest to the board.

Add your accompaniments

  • Crackers, Chips, Bread. I love to serve up my cheeses with some pita chips or crostini.
  • Fresh Fruits. Mandarin oranges, grapes, and apples are widely available year round and perfect for a winter cheese board.
  • Dried Fruits. Figs, apricots, cranberries, dried orange slices, and cherries are all great options.
  • Fresh Herbs. Fresh herbs like sage, rosemary, and thyme add a nice touch of color.
  • Olives. Head to the olive bar at your local market and choose your favorites – Castelvetrano olives and kalamata olives are a couple of mine.
  • Nuts & Seeds. Almonds, walnuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds.
  • Honey. I found a gorgeous honeycomb at the market, but you can also serve this with a small bowl of honey on the side for drizzling.
