I love discovering new, different, cocktails that I’ve never heard of before. This cocktail, however, is actually not new per se…
The December 1934 edition of Esquire Magazine includes a list of the “Top 10” most popular cocktails. The list starts with an Old Fashioned, and ends with a Daiquiri. The rest of the drinks on the list are reasonably well known. One of them, The Harvest Moon, appears to be MIA for most bartenders. It is described as being a “applejack sour with orgeat”.
This drink is perfect for cooler, stormy nights. It’s a smooth, dark cocktail with a hints of apple and almond flavors and I just love it! Cheers!

- slice lemon for garnish
Place all ingredients (except garnish) in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds.

- Applejack is a strong alcoholic beverage produced from apples. The brand that you will find in the U.S. is Laird & Company.
- Look for the orgeat syrup at your local supermarket in the coffee aisle. It’s a sweet syrup made with almonds and orange or rose water.
