This Blueberry Bourbon Smash Cocktail combines fresh blueberries, apple cider, vanilla and bourbon for a comforting cocktail that’s perfect for the Fall season.
When Fall rolls around, the cocktails get a bit moodier around here – Gone for now are the days of sipping Aperol Spritzes on the back patio. Now, it’s a cozy blanket, lots of burning candles and this Blueberry Bourbon Smash.
Even my TV-watching habits have gotten a bit moodier. If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know that I’m a bit obsessed with the Real Housewives… And, by moodier, I don’t mean that the girls have gotten even bigger attitudes – No, I’ve gone in a whole new direction altogether – I’m finally getting around to watching Breaking Bad. Just a few years late.
I’m obsessed with this Bourbon Smash Cocktail. I mean it’s SO good! Completely and utterly binge-worthy. I just finished the episode where Jessie’s girlfriend, you know, and then Walt comes in, and you know… I can’t stop watching!!! Have you guys all seen it? I’m way behind, I know – No spoilers. Don’t tell me anything!
This is my perfect sipping cocktail to get me through every nail-biting episode.
Blueberries and bourbon go hand in hand with an episode of Breaking Bad. This cocktail is a lot like the show really. Deep down, it’s a little bit sweet, but it’s also got a lot of darkness going on, and it definitely sucks you in. How could a cocktail this gorgeous not suck you in? The blueberries and a squeeze of lemon give it a bright, fresh flavor, and then we’re adding in apple cider and a splash of vanilla to soften it up a bit and match those warm flavors in the bourbon. This cocktail is just as binge-worthy as Breaking Bad, although I’d suggest enjoying both in moderation…

These are right up my alley for fall! Well, anything bourbon, really! 😉
I think it’s the perfect cocktail for chilly fall nights!
I love how you describe this cocktail and Breaking Bad matching in mood—and addictiveness!
Thanks Catherine – Both are totally addicting 🙂
That sounds absolutely delicious! And I still have pounds and pounds of frozen blueberries from this summer. I’m thinking they could sub for ice cubes quite nicely??? And I love the addition of thyme. Herbs can be so good in cocktails when done right.
And you’re so funny about Breaking Bad. I also JUST got into it! I’m a late bloomer with some shows I guess 😉
I’m totally hooked on the show – But now I’m being good and only watching it while on the treadmill 😉 It’s my motivation for working out for 45 minutes!
Mmmm I love a good bourbon cocktail during the fall especially. We still have some frozen blueberries that we picked this summer as well. Might have to make this soon!
I hope you get a chance to try this sipper soon Marlynn!
