- Harissa Paste – Harissa is typically sold in the form of a thick paste or a jarred sauce. It is commonly found in grocery stores, specialty food stores, or international markets that carry North African or Middle Eastern ingredients. I find it at World Market.
- Olive Oil
- Onion & Garlic
- Seasonings – Italian Seasoning, Salt & Pepper
- Feta Cheese
- Fresh Parsley
How to make it
- Saute Onions & Garlic: Heat oil in a large, oven safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and a pinch of salt and cook until softened, 4-5 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Brown Lamb: Add lamb, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring often to break up lamb, until browned and crumbly. Tip: For safety, the USDA recommends cooking ground lamb to a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees F as measured by a food thermometer.
- Assemble: Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, harissa and gnocchi to the skillet and stir to combine. Top with feta cheese.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and cheese has melted. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
- Enjoy: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and enjoy!
