For years, I worked on mastering a copycat recipe for Yumm sauce. And if you’re not from the Oregon area, you may be unfamiliar with just what Yumm sauce is…

Yumm sauce was created by Cafe Yumm! a restaurant that originated in my college hometown of Eugene, Oregon. And, I think I ate there like once a week. Their Yumm sauce recipe is creamy, lemony, and garlicky with the most amazing blend of spices, and it’s amazing on these Yumm Sauce Bowls.

Since posting my recipe for Yumm sauce, I’ve had so many of you reach out to me to see if I also had a recipe for their Jalapeno Sesame Salsa. A quintessential topping for the “Hot & Jazzy Bowl.”

And today I’m happy to say – I finally do!

I’m so excited to share this copycat recipe for Cafe Yumm’s jalapeno sesame salsa with you today! And while this recipe is for all the Cafe Yumm fans out there, it’s also for all my readers who haven’t yet had the chance to experience this amazing jalapeno salsa.

But let me warn you, it’s totally addictive…

One of my favorite ways to use it is to swirl it together with Yumm! sauce. It makes a delicious, creamy dip and is SO GOOD with these baked tortilla chips or air fryer tortilla chips.

I’m obsessed.

Jalapeno Sesame Salsa ingredients

  • Jalapenos
  • Cilantro
  • Sesame Oil
  • Canola Oil
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Garlic
  • Salt
  • Lemon Juice

The ingredients are simple! And so easy to find in your local grocery store. You may even have everything on hand already!

How do you make jalapeno sesame salsa?

It’s super simple to make this jalapeno salsa. Just add all the ingredients to a blender or food processor and process until smooth.

Is it spicy?

A note on the spiciness of this jalapeno salsa…

The heat will depend on your jalapenos. Some can be extremely, while others are more mild. To tame down the heat, be sure to remove the ribs and seeds from your jalapenos, since that is where most of the heat lives.

If you’d like to make this salsa even less spicy, you can substitute in another less spicy pepper like poblanos, banana peppers or Anaheim peppers.

Love a spicy green sauce? Be sure to try my mojo sauce and peruvian chicken with creamy green sauce too!

How to use Jalapeno Sesame Salsa

  • On tacos – try these Sweet Potato Tacos, Cauliflower Tacos or Slow Cooker Carnitas
  • On Yumm bowls of course! It’s the star of their Cafe Yumm Hot + Jazzy recipe!
  • Make a creamy dip by swirling it together with Yumm! sauce – my absolute favorite dip!!!
  • On scrambled eggs
  • On savory oatmeal
  • Swirled into hummus
  • On quinoa bowls – try these Quinoa Burrito Bowls, Chicken Gyro Bowls, or Sweet Potato & Chickpea Buddha Bowls

How to store

The salsa can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. It can also be frozen, though the texture may change slightly.

This is amazing. Absolute dupe for the hot and jazzy salsa. I’m a HUGE Cafe Yumm fan now living in the south, and when I tell you I was absolutely shocked at how well this turned out! This recipe is now saved to my browser I love it so much!

How long does this stay good for in the fridge and is it possible to make a large batch and freeze some?
